Just finished the Halloween in Summer Festival in Magna, Utah. It was quite the experience. Last year it was reported that this festival had 35 booths. This year they closed down Magna’s Historical Main Street, Had 90 booths, bands playing continuously, at the end of the street they set up a Halloween Carnival.
We were very successful. My wife and I figured out how much we had invested and how much we would need to bring in to break even. Then we figured out what we would consider a very successful show and made that our goal. All said and done we over doubled our expectations. However most importantly we were able to give out nearly 400 business cards to people interested in visiting our website. I welcome all of our new friends and hope you enjoy being a part of our growing family.
Between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00 they opened it up for all the kids to go Trick-or-Treating. We must have had close to a 1,000 kids Trick-or-Treat our booth. What a great day we had and I am so excited about all the new friends we made.
We really ask that if you are liking what we are building here to please share with your friends. Social Media is such a great source to get the word out. As our visitors and followers grow, then our website can continue to grow as well.
Halloween is really growing by leaps and bounds. Trick-or-Treating is different today than it was when I was a kid. Today parents go out with the kids and quite often travel in large groups. All the streets are well lit and most of the time parents only let the kids go to doors of people that they know. That is wonderful, and it greatly increases the safety of the kids.
When I was a kid, we took off with our best friends and ran as fast as we could to hit as many houses possible before they ran out of candy. It was scary at times. Dark streets and into uncharted territories we roamed to build our ever growing cache. There was a certain risk we took and excitement that is embedded into our memories for life.
Today, a quickly growing number of people are trying to make this holiday as memorable to the young Trick-or-Treaters as it was to them when they were young, and so in this new environment they have found the answer in decorating. More and more, scary houses are popping up and bringing back that sense of excitement for the little ghouls that we had as kids.
I’m sure that none of it has anything to do with us trying to relive a second childhood. No, we will stick to the thought that it is all for the children. That philosophy also helps a great deal in getting approval from the spouse also.
Now it is time for me to reflect, and then come up with more new and fun ideas to share.
Happy Halloween Everyone!
