One of my absolute favorite parts of my Halloween decorating is my Witches Apothecary. I love to make it as creepy as possible and have enough items included in it to hold someone’s interest for quite some time as they browse through the items on display. You will be amazed at how important the small details become. The more detail you include the more believable your scene becomes.
I cannot count how many times people have asked me how I acquired so many old items to decorate with. I have to really hold myself back from telling them that I acquired most base items from Michael’s or Hobby Lobby. It just doesn’t sound as creepy as saying I found them in an abandoned witch’s lair.
I started collecting bottles as often as the different craft stores would have great sales. People have wanted to know how I age the bottles and make them apothecary cabinet ready. If you want to know how I do it make sure to watch my you tube tutorial right here.
But more than not, most people would just like to get hold of a bottle ready to display, and so I decided to offer some bottles to you at the lowest price I can. I used my original Elsbeth Lair labels which you can also download here, and use for your personal use and I put my own names on them. I will sell them individually and I will keep adding more as I make them. I know that some of them are kind of dorky, but I tried. You will notice that some of the names are from the witches cauldron ingredients from “Macbeth”.
I sure hope you like them. Take a gander at them over in my store. You can see them right here.
I’ve also decided to include 3 random bottles with each Apothecary cabinet I sell. You can see the cabinets in the store also.
So now I will get back to work in the studio. I am trying to finish a quick tutorial on corpsing, and then get back to making inventory for the store and for the summer shows.
Wow, I can’t believe how much I love Halloween.
Happy Halloween Everyone!
