I woke up this morning expecting to be welcomed by another beautiful, warm day as it has been for the last week or so. Instead, I noticed it was dark and gloomy skies and it is now snowing again. A perfectly miserable day and so for someone who is into Halloween as much as I am, that means just another great day to work on more Halloween stuff.
I love monday because it is the start of another week of doing what I love most. Tuesdays are pretty good also because that is usually date night for my wife and I. The restaurants are never crowded on Tuesdays and it is $5.00 all day tickets at the theater. That even includes 3D and Imax. How can you beat that. Oh, what the heck. Everyday is great when everyday is Halloween.
I just got my stand for the “First Blade” in the firing kiln along with some more soup cauldrons and am now working on another Tshirt idea that was prompted by some of my friends.
My wife is working on VooDoo Dolls which I am excited about. A couple of months ago I put together our Tshirt design “I Play with Dolls”. I wasn’t sure how to draw a VooDoo Doll so I decided to make one instead. Took a picture of it and used that for the shirt design. Seeing the doll in my studio, people keep asking me how much I’m selling the dolls for. So I decided to take a shot at making some to offer. After seeing my first attempts at sewing, my wife gratefully took over that project. I couldn’t believe it. I said,”What is wrong with what I’ve done”. She said, “Nothing is wrong with it except that it looks like a five year old did it.” She then said, “No, I take that back. I don’t want to offend any of the grandkids!”
So she is in charge of creating the dolls and is allowing any creative insight I might have to offer.
My first creative insight was the naming of the dolls. Since it was about Halloween I thought the name “BooDoo” Dolls would be great. Upon doing some research in google we came across this:
“BooDoo, the act of fondling a woman’s chest.” I think my wife will probably take over the naming of the dolls also.
I am so excited about getting ready for the shows and festivals this year. I learned so much from last year. All the do’s and don’ts of successful shows.
Most of what I learned was the don’ts so I’m looking forward to a great deal more success this year.
If you visited us at all last year, just know that this year we will have 10 times the stuff to offer. (another reason why I don’t get much sleep.)
Happy Halloween everyone!
