This is now my favorite cookie recipe. What makes it so wonderful for me is that it is not only delicious, but it is about as easy as it gets to make. I believe in the philosophy of making it as creepy as possible, as easy as possible. You have way too many other things to do, to worry about every treat becoming a major project. Continue reading
Happy 4th of July weekend to you all! What a wonderfully hot July day. This holiday is one of my families favorites. Umm next to Halloween of course. The grandkids are all excited to spend these next couple of days in solid celebration. In our little town we have a great parade where a ton of candy is thrown out to the kids. All the kids eyes bug out in excitement as the motorcycle police with great precision run over their toes and my granddaughters all have huge smiles on their faces as they do that fancy little side wave to all the beautiful princesses on the floats. As for me, I get clowns on unicycles handing me flyers telling me who to vote for in the next election. I love it.
Tonight there will be the movie in the park with free popcorn, and then tomorrow all day long we will be at the carnival. There will be many booths to enjoy and music galore, but I will be spending most of the day hunting for shade and watching the kids get sick on the rides. We will cap the day off with one of the best firework shows around and there you have what I’ll be doing this weekend.
Did I say this was one of my families most favorite holidays? Lol. For some strange reason, along with the sun burns, sick kids and heat exhaustion, I still look forward to this weekend every year.
I hope your weekend will be as great as I expect mine to be.
A few days ago I received a comment that they loved the eyeballs that I have for sale in my store, but they were just starting out in the Halloween decorating. They didn’t have skulls or other props to put them in and couldn’t figure out what to do with them if they bought some. They felt it was a little too expensive to buy a dozen pair to fill a specimen jar and they asked for some ideas.
I thought about it a bit and realized that even though having a lot of eyeballs was pretty cool and creepy, just having one set of eyeballs in your decor is just as creepy if not more so. It really catches someone off guard if they are looking at your apothecary set up and suddenly glance across a pair of eyeballs staring back at them.
Try just taking a pair of eyeballs, finding a small jar, put a little vegetable oil in it and you have yourself a great Halloween decoration and addition to your growing apothecary. If you want to maybe give a special gift to each of the kids, or use as part of your invitation to the party, Just drop one single eyeball into the jar and decorate it as you please.
Remember that if you want to put the eyes into a liquid, make sure it is something like vegetable oil. Water will attack the finish of the eye and doesn’t look as slimy as oil anyway.
If you have any other ideas on what you can do with eyeballs, please share them with me. I would like to get as many ideas out there as I can to help everyone make their Halloween Decorating a success.
Happy Halloween Everyone!
