This definitely is a great time to celebrate a new year for haunting. 2017 is among us and has started out better than I ever hoped for. I hope the same goes for you and your family.
When I started ElsBeth Lair, part of the business plan was that it would take two years to break even and start making any money. Well, two years will be this coming June and I am happy to say that we are ahead of schedule.
We started breaking even and making money this past September. I thought that business would halt as soon as Halloween was over, but to my surprise it didn’t even slow down. That is exciting news as it shows the popularity of Halloween, Horror, and people who just like to have fun.
I have always loved the macabre. I am seeing that there are a lot of people out there that feel the same as me.
I have mentioned this before, but one of the biggest things that has helped us to make it to the next level is our Horror Dolls. I will find these dolls and look for inspiration. When I start giggling, my wife says “Uh Oh” and she knows I have a wonderfully, terrible fate for that particular doll.
I look forward to this year. I really feel that I will be able to make my dream come true and make this business a successful reality. I take great pride in the things I make. I hope that shows to anybody that has purchased anything from me. I worked for nearly 30 years in corporate America and witnessed how customer service slowly ceased to exist. I consider my customers my friends and I try to treat them as such. Besides, Halloween is something that we should all enjoy together and have fun with it.
Some people see Halloween as something dark and evil and has no place in the world today. I see Halloween as an opportunity to have some fun and bring surprise, excitement, and happiness into a childs life. Even if that child is 92.
Okay, enough of me being on a soap box. Here is my newest doll that you can see in my store right here.
She is Claudia. Yes, It is my interpretation of Claudia from the Interview with the Vampire books and movie. I hope you love her. She was a lot of work, but I just totally loved doing this one. I felt like I have stepped up to a new level on repurposing these collector dolls. But the reality is that it is just plain fun. My wife tells me that I am starting to become demented because she keeps hearing me laughing as she walks past my studio.
I’m sorry, it is just that I am having fun creating. Who wouldn’t giggle at least a little when a creation starts to come together as you hoped it would.
Happy Halloween everyone! and thank you for a wonderful 2016.
