Last year I wrote this poem for the grandkids. I thought it was great. Everyone else thought it was inappropriate. I guess that says something about me. My wife said, “You are not reading that to our grandkids.” It was finally decided that we would leave it up to the parents since I had to agree that a few of the kids were not quite old enough to appreciate “Halloween wit”. I originally wrote “not old enough to appreciate literary genius” but my wife walked by and laughed and said “Not hardly!” Oh well.
Anyway, it ended up being framed and now is a part of our decorations. If you would like to do the same thing, all I did was take a piece of colored paper, go to the story section of this site and print the poem out. it is a free printable. I then dipped a paint brush in a little bit of red acrylic paint and flipped it on the paper causing a bit of blood splatter. I suggest practicing on a separate piece of paper until you get it how you want. On one of the splatters I loaded my brush with extra paint and touched the splatter, lifted the paper up and let it run a bit down the paper.
I wanted the frame to be an older style like it had been hung around for awhile and so I found an old framed picture of my wife in her wedding dress. Lol, yes, it has been that long. I repainted it how I wanted it look and will dust it up a bit before hanging.
At Halloween time I go through the house and change out all our framed pictures with Halloween pictures, This poem will fit in quite nicely.
I hope this gives you a few thoughts for decorating this Halloween, and gets you a little more excited as the season quickly approaches.
I would love to see what you do with this poem. Please share and I will post it so others can see it as well.
